What is The Mummy about?
Emilia’s mother is married to Hawke Stevenson, and his daughter Tracy resents Emilia for it. On a family visit to a grand Egyptian museum, Tracy slips a jeweled ring off a pharaoh’s mummy after its display case is damaged, and her freckles vanish on the spot. Haunted by a childhood warning never to take anything tied to a pharaoh, Emilia begs her to put it back, but ends up hurt and mocked. Tracy flaunts the ring online ahead of a beauty pageant, and Emilia’s father warns that whatever Tracy eats will feed the curse. When Emilia tells her mother that Tracy will turn to sand and end up a mummy, she is told she has quite an imagination—even as Tracy’s appetite turns monstrous.
