Catherine Brown’s life is decided by a debt she did not make: her mother Olivia gambled the family into the hands of a powerful house, and the old agreement says that by her eighteenth birthday Catherine must choose one of two brothers and marry him. What she is offered is not a choice but a choice inside somebody else’s contract. Lucas wants her openly; the other brother seems colder and keeps proving otherwise.
