What is The Mistaken Lover Hoax about?
Elena Vance, a wealthy woman who prefers to stay in the shadows, is dressed for a banquet in her Manhattan penthouse when Julian, a charming young man, photographs her in a velvet gown and antique sapphires, calls her his gorgeous date and posts the picture to Instagram. She warns that their wealth attracts the worst people and that others jump to conclusions. She is right: the butler bringing her coffee sneers that she is a cheap gold digger sleeping her way up. In a dressing room downstairs, bride-to-be Madison sees the post while her friend insists Julian is hiding a young, beautiful mistress who will ruin the perfect wedding. Swearing no trash will ruin her path, Madison marches to the penthouse in a red sequined gown and pounds on the door, ready to drag the “rat” out herself.
