Rise of the Silent Blood

What is Rise of the Silent Blood about?

In a city secretly run by the Blood Clans, your blood decides your rank, and Caelus's is Gray — the lowest there is. He serves the Ashwood clan as its punching bag. When the whole clan waits an hour for breakfast because of him, Garrick, the clan's Silver-Blood beta commander, has him blindfolded and beaten in front of the warriors while Damian Ashwood, the Golden-Blood heir, looks on.

In the medical ward, the Thornwood clan's medical officer, Lyra Ashford, reads his blood and finds what shouldn't be there: a golden line in a Gray Blood's spectrum. It is his birthday. That morning Seraphine Voss, a Gold-Blood heir of the Voss family, arrives two hours early with one question — two months ago at the Inter-Clan Assembly, a Soul Brand reading linked her to a Gray Blood from Ashwood. Rise of the Silent Blood is an urban fantasy about the lowest servant in the clans and the blood waking up in him.

Beneath the surface of a modern megacity, eight ancient Blood Clans pass their powers down the bloodline and mask their grip on the economy with corporate empires. In that order Grey Blood is close to worthless, and young Caelus serves the Ashwood clan as a target for daily humiliation. Commander Garrick punishes him for the smallest slip, never suspecting that a primordial inheritance is sealed inside him. When it awakens in bursts of golden lightning, it threatens the whole idea of pure blood. Valeria, a battle-hardened commander, sees a rare fighter instead of a servant and takes him on — but breaking the seal could destroy him.
